500 Times the Stars in our Galaxy

Hello from Nature Clean!

Here's an update on our Laundry Detergent Strips in 100% plastic free packaging and some thoughts about ocean plastic waste.

It’s been calculated that the amount of micro-plastics in our oceans is already 500 times greater than the number of stars in our galaxy.

This is predicted to triple by 2040, if nothing is done. This prediction is both sad and shocking. We want to bring real solutions and know it will take hard decisions and significant changes in people’s habits to save our oceans.

We debated how we can get as many people as possible using our laundry detergent strips in 100% plastic free packaging. To do this, we’d need to produce them at a cost that almost anyone could afford. We made the difficult decision to take the production of our detergent strips outside of Canada. This was not an easy decision for us, as we pride ourselves on making Nature Clean products domestically.

In the end however, reducing ocean plastic (29 million metric tons each year by 2040, unless we change our ways) far outweighs the benefits and pride of making this one product here. We’re aiming to lower the retail prices of our detergent strips by up to 50% and hope to have as many people as possible using them. Nature Clean Laundry Detergent Strips are still formulated and tested here in Canada, with ingredients chosen specifically by us. They are produced under the strictest of standards and each batch is tested here for quality and consistency. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for your help in reducing ocean plastic at every opportunity!
